Never in a million years did we expect to find ourselves in this unthinkable situation.

The majority of the world’s population are hunkered down in their homes, wary of contracting the novel coronavirus, which has so far stricken almost 2 million people globally, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

For any parent these days, the biggest motivation to avoid getting sick is the fear of bringing home this highly contagious disease.

While COVID-19 does not seem to afflict children in large numbers according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the little ones are by no means immune to this virus.  This is why parents are not taking any chances.  They make sure to inculcate in their youngsters certain health habits that will help them steer clear of coronavirus.

In this endeavor, parents are getting much needed help from Pinkfong, creator of the monster hit song Baby Shark, which captured the hearts of kids and parents alike, even as its original YouTube video has garnered a staggering 5 billion views.

Pinkfong recently posted a video on YouTube entitled Wash Your Hands Dance with Baby Shark, which demonstrates in a fun way how youngsters should wash their hands. Sung to the tune of Baby Shark, this highly entertaining song and dance act is performed by a boy and girl duo that is accompanied by the Baby Shark and Pinkfong mascots.

Wash your hands…doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo,” begins the song, followed by “Rub your handsdoo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo… Rinse your hands…doo-doo-doo-doo-doo…”

Not only that, the video also teaches or reminds kids to cover their sneeze or cough.

Moreover, Pinkfong doubles down on its effort to help flatten the curve by encouraging viewers to join what it calls the Baby Shark Hand Wash Challenge.

People across the globe—young or otherwise—need only to shoot their own cover of Wash Your Hands Dance with Baby Shark and upload the video on any social media platform while using the hashtag #BabySharkHandWashChallenge.

Pinkfong, which has 32 million YouTube subscribers, will feature selected entries on its YouTube channel.

Thankfully, coronavirus cases among children are relatively low.  Nonetheless, keeping the youngsters protected from this contagion is extremely important.

As little ones are less likely to show COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, they could potentially spread the virus if they catch it.

So when kiddos are washing their hands properly and covering their cough or sneeze, they are keeping Grandpa Shark and Grandma Shark healthy as well.

At some point in the near future, scientists will complete the development of the urgently needed COVID-19 vaccine—the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

When that happens, we can finally come out of our homes, and say: Safe at last! (Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo…)

Gee, that tune is really catchy!
